Buses:
- From Novo Rio Bus Station: Take the Bus 179-Recreio (Yellow colored) when you arrive to the town of Recreio you will see the beach. The bus will go along the main beach street called Estrada do Pontal and then the bus will turn inland. Once it turns inland you need to get off at this corner, the name of the street you will get off at is called 6W.Look at Directions from 6W street Bellow. Duration of bus ride: 1hr.
- From Copacabana, Ipanema,Leblon, and Botafogo: take Bus 175 -Recreio (Blue and white colored) or S-20 - Recreio (Orange and white colored) for R$2.10. When you arrive to the town of Recreio you will see the beach. The bus will go along the main beach street called Estrada do Pontal and then the bus will turn inland. Once it turns inland you need to get off at this corner, the name of the street you will get off at is called 6W.Look at Directions from 6W street Bellow. Duration of bus ride:1hr.
- From the Airport (GIG): Get the "Frescão" bus to Barra Shopping via "Linha Amarela" ($6.50 reais). Tell the bus driver you want to get off at Barra Shopping Center. When you get to Barra Shopping you will need to catch another bus to Recreio (either one of these buses 175, 179 or S-20 Recreio). When you arrive to the town of Recreio you will see the beach. The bus will go along the main beach street called Estrada do Pontal and then the bus will turn inland. Once it turns inland you need to get off at this corner, the name of the street you will get off at is called 6W. Look at Directions from 6W street Bellow. Total duration of bus rides: 1hr 30 min.
Directions from 6W Street: Then walk in the same direction the bus was going(the street parallel to the beach) and walk until the next street called 8W(Oito W). A good point of reference is the apartment building facing the beach called -La Plage- that you will walk pass to get to 8W. On the corner of 8W there is a big Surf Shop called Udo Bastos surf shop made from bamboo. Then turn right, walk 50m to the first road and turn right again. The Rio Surf n' Stay is the second house on the left #1140 with a yellow and red fence with a brown gate. Press door bell for Entrance (have a look at the map bellow for visual directions and please take note of all the directions on how to arrive because some streets dont have proper signs).

-From Botafogo, Copacabana, and Ipanema you can catch the surf bus that runs daily, its an orange colored bus. The Surf Bus passes by these areas only 4 times a day. It passes by the main beach streets at 7am, 10am, 1am, and 4pm. The cost is R$3.00 to ride the surf bus. It is always good idea to call the surf bus to advise the driver where you will be waiting and to make sure it is running on time. Once you get on the bus let the driver know that you would like to get off at the street called 8W.When you get off the bus then turn right, walk 50m to the first road and turn right again.
